I believe Yoga is about celebrating individual bodies and directing awareness towards energetic alignment.

To do yoga is to remember who you truly are. Re because it is inherent in you. Member because it is an act of integrating all the members of your body, mind, spirit through the exploration of stillness, breath, and movement. It is the creation of a safe space for the soul to unfold within the body. You are your own guru.

Yoga is about changing your perspective. Putting the body in different positions and different breathing patterns changes how you experience, or the view point from which you are seeing. Seeing the world from new angles opens up possibilities for a new world. It allows you to put yourself in the shoes of all parts of yourself. To experience different ways of being via the different shapes of the body. Exploring all the corners and emotions, giving all the voices in your head a seat at the table.

You begin to experience the self as a universe of its own, with mountains and valleys, rivers and oceans, emotions and thoughts, energy and matter. And then a sense of agency develops, a sense that you create this universe of yours through shapes/movements/thoughts/breath/feeling — through the perception you create.

Knowledge is power. Embodied knowledge is when you become the source of that power. This is how the ancient system of Yoga already knew what much of science is trying to prove today. They fully knew and understood quantum physics. They knew the power of the body and mind.

We live in a world now where information is crazy abundant and coming at us from many different sources all the time. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and end up feeling like we don’t know anything, that we must keep searching outside of us to find the answers we desire. But I believe that the truth is we simply aren’t embodying what we know to be true because we are already rushing to the next bit of information (especially in wellness) before we let it sink in. If we could just slow down and create the space within us for the answers to arise, we would find that the answers we seek are within. Some answers give exactly what we need, others lead us to teachers that can help it to arise within us. We still need each other. But everyone can only heal and answer themselves. Others can be there to help set the space and support you, but it always truly comes from within when the proper space is cultivated and support received.

I am here to help cultivate that space of deep listening so that you may find your own answers within.
